Paraplanner - Assistant Team Leader

Our client is looking for a Paraplanner - Assistant Team Leader to join their team in a hybrid role between London and remote working. Working in collaboration with the Advisors and other colleagues, the Paraplanner will carry out paraplanning tasks – i.e. writing Suitability Letters in line with company policy to ensure cases are progressed within agreed timeframes and SLAs. The role will be required to comply with the FCA compliance rules on financial advice services.


Key Responsibilities:

Assistant Team Leader duties:

  • Facilitate training sessions (e.g. Knowledge Sharing, New Joiner Induction, etc.)
  • Liaise with Team Lead to manage workflow capacity (in-house and outsource)
  • Liaise with Team Lead on weekly teamwork allocation
  • Liaise with Advisers and communicate case updates and required information  (e.g. further fact find information)
  • Liaise with LOA Administrators and LOA Team Lead to review and resolve any issues related to provider information
  • Support with Adviser query management and overall management of the shared
  • Proactively manage the team issues tracker and look for opportunities to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Deputise for Team Lead in stakeholder management (e.g. Adviser update meetings) and workflow management
  • Provide guidance to junior members of the team and take a mentoring approach to support Junior Paraplanners

Paraplanner duties:

  • Write Suitability Letters (SLs) within the agreed timeframes
  • Work in iBusiness to maintain Advice Sets and update case status
  • Track cases in iBusiness and provide requested input for regular operational reporting
  • Liaise with Advisers to obtain clarity on information required to complete SLs
  • Liaise with Business Assurance (BA) team to ensure compliance and regulatory advice requirements are clearly understood and embedded in paraplanning activities
  • Maintain and share paraplanning knowledge to effectively progress cases and write SLs
  • Work with BA to resolve issues – where required (e.g. reviewing feedback)
  • Identify issues and opportunities to improve the paraplanning process and contribute to a continuous improvement culture
  • Meet Quality of Documentation (QoD) targets and other KPIs
  • Contribute to operational processes and quality improvement initiatives
  • Escalatie issues to Team Lead and Head of Paraplanning


  • Up to 4 years experience of working within a wealth management firm either as a paraplanner or the Business Administration teams dealing with LOA, Submissions queries looking for the next move towards the paraplanning certificate
  • Experience of working within a financial services sector
  • Demonstrable experience of building rapport and interacting with clients effectively A driven individual with a focus on client service and leading a high-performance culture
  • Adaptable to change management plans and advocate to business initiatives
  • Highly skilled and organised to manage multiple case management progress channels
  • Strong numerical ability and ability to analyse financial data and performance metrics
  • Confidence and ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as follow direction managers
  • IT technically proficient including Office 365
