Paraplanner Team Leader - Hampshire
Our client, based in Hampshire, is looking for a Paraplanner Team Leader role to manage the Paraplanners on a day to day basis, ensuring pipeline management and case distribution, ensure cases are progressing in a timely manner, highlighting potential concerns to the Paraplanner Manager and to maintain management information to track activity for both themselves and advisers, via internal systems.
Successful candidates will also take accountability for team performance, supporting the Paraplanner to achieve individual
set targets, providing regular updates to the Paraplanner Manager, support the Paraplanner Manager in attending and completing individual 121’s and mentor and develop trainees and new starters to competent status within agreed timescales.
You will need to provide technical support to the Paraplanners, deliver training sessions to upskill and maintain competent knowledge levels, provide ‘Peer Reviews’ for Paraplanners adopting new advice areas and manage and drive quality, identify trends, issues, and ensure improvements are made, highlighting concerns to the Paraplanner Manager.
Other tasks will include:
- Assisting in the development, design and implementation of processes and procedures to meet the needs of the team.
- Contributing to change management initiatives to constantly improve and drive efficiencies across the end to end Paraplanning process.
- Promoting and maintain the relationship with the ‘Business Quality’ Team to ensure cause and effect between the teams are monitored and actioned.
- Being a role model and leading by example; demonstrating best practice, acting compliantly and working efficiently, encouraging and shaping the team to be just as effective.
- Deputising for the Paraplanner Manager during periods of their absence.
- Ensuring the Paraplanners act as an effective first line defence, ensuring compliance with FCA requirements and suitability of advice.
- Reviewing fact finds to ensure all aspects of the client financial needs are clearly documented, challenging the advisers where appropriate to enable them to research suitable solutions based on the information provided. As part of this, the role holder will be expected to challenge gaps and justifications with advisers where appropriate.
- Using research tools to complete analysis, comparing the options, assessing TVAS outcomes and annuity crossover/breakeven analysis as required, to ensure advice is provided to the client is suitable to their needs
- Liaise with advisers and other parts of plus third parties for additional information to support the recommendations for the clients, with the ability to challenge/agree requirements
to enable the paraplanning activities to be performed in a timely and quality manner.
- Preparing draft suitability reports within an agreed timescale, for final approval by the adviser, using technical knowledge and experience plus compliance approved templates and soft facts including justification for advice.
- Liaising with the Business Quality Unit (BQU) to ensure that the file quality is within required standards and to act as a conduit between the adviser and BQU to resolve any remedial points identified following a file being checked.
- Ensure individual and team targets are set and achieved, providing regular updates to Management.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Strong analytical skills for both individual client work and assessment of other Paraplanner work.
- Strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective delivery of technical and process training.
- Training & Development with track record of mentoring individuals successfully
Knowledge:
- Pension and Defined Benefit Transfer knowledge essential
- Knowledge of the regulatory regime and the requirements and guidance issued by the FCA and other appropriate legislative,
regulatory, governmental or Industry bodies.
- Good knowledge of current industry best practice particularly the FCA requirements for Know Your Client and Suitability
- Industry knowledge related to advice across a wide range of providers, products, funds.
Experience:
- Financial Services experience is essential preferably obtained in a life and pensions environment.
- Previous paraplanning experience, writing Defined Benefit advice reports is essential (minimum of 1 year)
- Previous experience in a IFA firm is essential
Qualifications:
- Level 4 Diploma qualified essential, working towards Chartered status is desirable
