Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Pension Administrator to join their team in Ramsbottom.
You will play an important role in supporting Account Managers with the day-to-day administration of pension schemes, while also taking responsibility for an initial portfolio of approximately 50 SSAS pension schemes.
The role is designed to provide a clear development pathway towards an Account Manager position. You will initially operate at beginner Account Manager level, taking increasing ownership of your allocated schemes as your knowledge, experience and confidence develop.
This is a varied role requiring strong organisational skills, financial awareness, attention to detail and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and professional contacts.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage general pension scheme correspondence.
- Process standard pension scheme investments and disinvestments.
- Issue standard reminder letters.
- Prepare and issue scheme anniversary packs and invoices.
- Process cash contributions, transfers-in and transfers-out.
- Process pension scheme payments.
- Liaise with banks, insurance companies and investment providers.
- Obtain valuations and assist with investment registrations and changes to signatories.
- Liaise with IFAs, accountants and other professional introducers.
- Respond to enquiries by telephone, email and in writing in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on internal systems.
- Follow company procedures and report operational risks to Directors.
- Manage and prioritise work across your allocated portfolio.
- Act as a day-to-day point of contact for clients, IFAs and professional introducers.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
- Escalate complex, unusual or higher-risk matters to the appropriate Account Manager or senior colleague.
- Take increasing responsibility for your allocated schemes as your knowledge develops.
- Support and progressively undertake more complex scheme work, including non-standard investments, retirement benefits, drawdown and fund split calculations.
- Work towards increasing your knowledge and responsibility as part of the progression pathway to Account Manager.
Additional Responsibilities
Depending on business requirements, you may also be involved in:
- Setting up new pension schemes and IFA relationships.
- Filing HMRC pension scheme and other regulatory returns.
- Attending client and IFA meetings where appropriate.
- Managing debtor chasing and new business prospect follow-ups.
- Handling incoming and outgoing post.
- Completing registrations, renewals and direct debits with relevant regulatory bodies.
- Issuing pension payslips and processing payments.
- Maintaining stationery and office supplies.
- Updating internal procedures and standard documentation.
- Coordinating Director meetings and greeting clients visiting the office.
- Undertaking other reasonable duties as requested by the Directors.
About You:
We are looking for someone who is organised, accurate and confident taking ownership of their workload.
You will be comfortable communicating directly with clients, IFAs and third parties, using your initiative and judgement within your level of competence while knowing when to escalate more complex matters.

- Around 2 years' SSAS pension administration experience preferred.
